Human rights and strengthening democracy

The Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action emphasize the responsibility of governments to develop actions, regulations and policies on gender equality under a human rights framework. 

The Feminist Foreign Policy will help develop actions in diverse areas with an approach that reinforces the historical commitment to upholding and defending human rights that has driven Chile’s foreign policy.

Moreover, incorporating a gender perspective into public policies helps to improve our understanding of social, economic, and cultural processes; to redistribute and improve the equality of rights and opportunities; to advance transparency and accountability; and to promote citizen participation and the strengthening of democracy
